HoroscoPet Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
This policy explains what data the HoroscoPet app ("the App") processes, why, and what rights you have. It is provided pursuant to art. 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR").
1. Who the data controller is
The data controller is Gabriele Murari, an individual, who develops and publishes the App. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, you can write to murari.vecchi@gmail.com.
2. In short
- Your pet's data (name, photo, date, time and place of birth, sex, breed) stays on your phone: we do not receive it and we do not send it to anyone.
- To improve the App we use usage statistics and crash reports, through Google Firebase. Statistics and personalised advertising require your consent, which you can change at any time.
- To write some horoscopes, the App may send only anonymous information (for example species, zodiac sign, language) to an artificial intelligence service, never your pet's name or photo.
- We do not sell your data.
3. Data that stays on your device
When you create a pet profile, the App saves on your phone:
- name, sex, breed, species;
- date of birth, and optionally time and place of birth;
- the photo, if you add one;
- the horoscopes you have already read, your preferences and your reminder choices.
This data is used only to make the App work: calculating the birth chart, showing the horoscope, reminding you of your daily appointment. It is not transmitted to our servers or to third parties.
Photos. Photos taken with the App are saved in an App folder on your phone, which may be visible in your gallery. Photos chosen from the gallery stay where they are and the App only reads them.
Backup. If Android automatic backup is enabled on your phone, this data may be included in your Google account backup, managed by you and by Google according to your phone settings.
Deletion. You can delete this data at any time by deleting the pet profile or uninstalling the App.
Sharing. When you choose to share a horoscope, the App creates an image and passes it to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp). From that moment on, the content is handled by the app you chose, according to its own rules.
4. Data processed through third-party services
4.1 Usage statistics: Google Analytics for Firebase
- What: App usage events (for example: onboarding completed, profile created, horoscope opened and which source the text comes from, sharing opened), an installation identifier, device model and operating system, language, approximate country.
- What we do not collect: we do not associate your pet's name, photo or birth data with this data.
- Why: to understand how the App is used and to improve it.
- Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), requested at launch through Google's consent form. Without consent, statistics work in a reduced mode, without device identifiers.
- Retention: 2 months for event-level data.
4.2 Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics
- What: if the App crashes, technical information: the point in the code where it happened, device model and operating system, App version, an installation identifier.
- Why: to fix errors and keep the App stable and secure.
- Legal basis: the controller's legitimate interest in offering a working and secure App (art. 6.1.f GDPR). This data is strictly technical and is not used to profile you.
- Retention: 90 days.
4.3 Configuration and security: Firebase Remote Config and App Check
- Remote Config: allows App features to be turned on or off without updating it (for example advertising).
- App Check: uses Google's Play Integrity service to verify that requests to our services come from the original App.
- Data processed: technical identifiers of the installation and of the device.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (operation and security of the service).
4.4 Writing horoscopes with artificial intelligence
The daily horoscope can be written in three ways:
- Directly on your phone, with the artificial intelligence built into compatible devices (Gemini Nano). No data leaves the phone.
- With a text prepared in the App. No data leaves the phone.
- With a cloud artificial intelligence service (Claude by Anthropic), through our own service on Google Cloud (Firebase Functions, European Union region).
In the third case the App sends only the following information:
- language;
- species (dog or cat);
- sex;
- zodiac sign;
- tone of the horoscope and levels of the daily indicators (appetite, happiness, sociability, energy).
We do not send the pet's name, photo, date, time or place of birth, or any other data that identifies you or your pet: the name is inserted into the text only on the phone, after the response.
- Legal basis: performance of the service you requested (art. 6.1.b GDPR) and legitimate interest; the information sent does not allow you to be identified.
- Retention: our service does not store the content of requests. Anthropic deletes requests and responses within 30 days (except for legal obligations or violations of its usage policies) and does not use them to train its models.
4.5 Advertising: Google AdMob
The App may show advertisements through Google AdMob. Before any advertisement, in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent with Google's form (IAB TCF certified).
- With consent: Google may use the device's advertising identifier to show you personalised ads and measure their effectiveness.
- Without consent: ads, if any, are not personalised.
- Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR).
- Withdrawal: you can change your mind at any time from Settings → Manage privacy consent in the App.
5. Transfers outside the European Union
Google and Anthropic may also process data in the United States. Transfers take place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which both companies adhere, or of the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
6. Notifications
The daily reminder is optional and you turn it on yourself. It is scheduled and shown by your phone, without sending us any data. You can turn it off in Settings in the App or in the system settings.
7. Minors
The App is not intended for children under 14. If you are a parent and believe that your child has provided us with data, write to us at murari.vecchi@gmail.com.
8. Your rights
You can request at any time to:
- access your data;
- rectify or erase it;
- restrict its processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- receive the data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent, without this making unlawful what was done before.
To do so, write to murari.vecchi@gmail.com. Much of the data is only on your phone: for that data you can act directly, by deleting the profiles or uninstalling the App.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Italian Data Protection Authority) (www.garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority of the country where you live.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. In case of significant changes, we will let you know in the App.
